Reflection
I often find myself living according to the flesh rather than the spirit. This fact has caused me to do a lot of self reflection on my character and faith. I've come to a conclusion that I am weak in obedience and discipline, and that weakness shows most clearly in my ongoing struggle against sin.
This made me realize that it's hard being a Christian, at least for myself. The society we live in normalizes so many sinful acts that some have simply become habitual, things I don't even recognize as sin until I stop to examine them.
I asked God the other day "Why is it so hard being a Christian, yet so easy to pursue sinful actions?" One of the things that came to me is that the struggle itself is part of how God forms us, the resistance is the refinement. The path of temptation is often paved with the promise of ease and immediate gratification, luring us away from the more arduous journey of faithfulness and discipline. I believe that embracing the struggle of denying the flesh and following the Spirit is not merely a test of our will, but a reaffirmation of our commitment to walk in the footsteps of Jesus.
The difficulty of being a Christian is something I've found to be a profound blessing, ultimately sculpting us into better reflections of not our own character, but God's.
